Mount Tibidabo Barcelona, Spain
HOW TO SPEND A WEEKEND: wHERE TO STAY, WHAT TO EAT, WHAT TO DO
During a long holiday weekend (a “puente”), we wanted to find a new destination near our home in Tarragona, Spain to explore for a couple of days. So I scanned through my google doc of ideas and stumbled on some notes… Barcelona to Tibidabo
Tibidabo is an easy day trip from Barcelona—maybe you found this page through my Barcelona City Guide!—but after locating a hotel (linked below!) we chose to really experience the mountain beyond the city for a weekend.
We arrived without an agenda, except to soak in the panoramic views and relax. We had a really lovely getaway so I wanted to share my short and sweet findings on ideas for where to eat plus what to see/do on your visit to Tibidabo. But first…
WHERE EXACTLY IS TIBIDABO?
Tibidabo is situated within Barcelona, Spain’s city limits and is part of the Collserola mountain range that surrounds the city.
Known for its stunning views of Barcelona, its iconic church (Sagrat Cor), and its amusement park, Tibidabo is a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
HOW TO GET TO TIBIDABO
*Note: Check schedules for public transport, especially on weekends or holidays, as they may vary.
PUBLIC TRANSIT
Take the L7 (Catalunya - Vallès) train from Plaça de Catalunya to Avinguda del Tibidabo station.
From there, you can take the Tramvia Blau (Blue Tram) to the upper part of the mountain.
Once you reach the end of the tram line, you can either walk or take the Tibidabo Funicular to the summit.
Car
If you have access to a car, you can drive to Tibidabo. There are parking areas at the top, but be aware that it can get busy, especially on weekends. Taxi or a ride-sharing service it also an option, which could be particulalry convenient if traveling with a group or family.

WHERE TO EAT IN TIBIDABO BARCELONA SPAIN
Mirablau - We enjoyed cocktails and light tapas with a view on Friday night.
Mirabe - A little more formal than Mirablau, we had a really nice lunch here. Though it seemed uncharacteristically rich for the Spanish cuisine we were used to, it was delicious.
Can Marti - This was such a fun stumble upon during our Saturday morning hike! We had a great spanish breakfast and stayed for the calcots, a Catalonian specialty of chargrilled green onions that you eat with romesco sauce.
Uaala Gelateria - Small and super cute spot for coffee, pastries or ice cream
WHAT TO DO IN TIBIDABO BARCELONA SPAIN
…aside from taking in the epic views, sunrises & sunsets!
Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the iconic Sagrat Cor church. It’s free to enter this church at Tibidabo. There is an additional fee (3 Euros) to use the lift to go to the top, which apparently offer some of the most spectacular views of Barcelona.
Tibidabo Amusement Park. If you’re traveling with kiddos or simply are into amusement parks, Tibidabo has one! In fact, it’s the oldest theme park in Spain, opened since 1901. While you won’t find major thrill rides, you will get a dose of vintage vibes with stunning city views and a fun atmosphere. If you’re looking for Tibidabo tickets, you can get your entrance to the Tibidabo Amusement Park here.
Walk the Carretera de les Aigües, a scenic road that runs along the Collserola mountain range, providing stunning views of Barcelona and its surroundings. It's a popular spot for walking, jogging, and cycling, offering a peaceful escape from the city. I loved hiking this road!
